Citizens’ Initiative

One of the core members of Citizens’ Initiative, a coalition of secular individuals and groups active in the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the survivors of the communal carnage in Gujarat and the earthquake in Kutch and Gujarat. Spent six months running relief efforts in villages in Kutch during the earthquake. During the 2002 carnage, was nominated to represent the civil society in critical discussions with the Prime Minister in which we unsuccessfully urged for the imposition of martial law by the army in Ahmedabad, to stop the carnage.

Ahmedabad Campus Theatre

One of the founder members of Ahmedabad Campus Theatre (ACT), a collective of faculty and students associated with college campuses and committed to theatre. ACT has so far produced 5 plays on various socio-political issues.

Ahmedabad Nature Lovers Association

One of the founder members of Ahmedabad Nature Lovers Association (ANALA), a group of young nature enthusiasts carrying out environment education with school children primarily through trekking programmes. Since 1985 ANALA has exposed over 70,000 kids to the wilderness in India.

National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR)

Member of the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR), which is a network of around 250 groups and NGOs across India working on rights of Dalits. Participate in campaign design, strategy-setting and communications efforts for the group.

  1. I am an environmental student of LD college of engg. I am in my 3rd semester. I really like the idea and approach of your group. I have keen interest and am enthusiastic in environmental activities. I am in derth of a base. I think I can get that from your group. So would like to know how I can join it if possible….
